The largest network in the world is the internet. Computer Technology II introduces students to it by showing the working of small intranets (networks), network-to-network communication. HTML, CGI, XML, and JavaScript are the languages of the internet and the intranet. Students will be introduced to the construction of we pages using these languages and will take part in a web page construction contest. Using the standard protocols of the internet TCP/IP, students will be shown how data is made ready, transmitted, and error checked through Intranets and Internet setups. The relationship between Novell, AppleTalk, and other operating systems will be examined and how they interface with TCP/IP to communicate over the Internet.
Students will examine the setting up of a small network within the school network; examine various network troubleshooting tools, how they are used, and various scenarios of results to be expected.
