Cosmetology Students Perform

Clash of the Titans Contest

By Jenny Miaczynski

Cosmetology Students Performed in the "Clash of the Titans" contest The object of this project was to create (on their own with no instruction from teachers) a full hair design including color, haircut, and a catchy name. The students were to include three different color formulas as well as different application techniques. The color choices were to be warm in tone and show a new and exciting summer trend. The hair cut had to show off the placement as well as changes in color. The names of the designs were to reflect on the design and color the student chose.

Following  weeks of exploring hair color theory and practical application, as well as experimenting with different color lines and techniques, (which up until now were a foreign subject), the adult Cosmetology students were ready to complete an intense project all on their own.

When students were given a final project outline, many eyebrows raised, and many were at first, unsure. In the end, everyone did an awesome job! When the students finished, they had a sense of accomplishment and though not sure at first; found that their work was extraordinary; and showed a complete understanding of the color process
