Mae Marshall, Cosmetology Instructor
Create Your Own Sunshine

Everyone in the world stands out in their own way. Words are not always needed to show your personality or your strengths. Mrs. Mae Marshall, cosmetology instructor, believes this well.
Mrs. Marshall graduated from Broadway Beauty School in Bradley. Her thirst for an education was not complete. She received a Level One Master Teacher Certificate in Cosmetology through Sangamon State University in Springfield Illinois.
In August of 1991, KACC welcomed Mrs. Marshall as an instructor. Since then, Mrs. Marshall says "Every morning, I walk in and love to see my students expand their minds. I love to watch them grow." Having a good time and making sure their customers have a good time and are well cared for is what Cosmetology is about. "Create your own sunshine," is what she tells her students day in and day out.
Every year, KACC cosmetology students participate in State and
National competitions through SkillsUSA. They consistently
come home brining our school many awards in recognition of their
hard work and exceptional talent. The years the Cosmetology
teachers sent students to competition are most
memorable..
Mrs. Marshall says that seeing her students reach their goals in a short amount of time is very rewarding for her personally. Ms. Marshall believes her cosmetology students utilize their time well. She sees them work hard, and try their best. This puts a smile on Mrs. Marshall's face. She is consistent in her message ~ "The Sky is the Limit. Your Dream is Your Choice."
It is a tough task to become a Cosmetologist. These students not only come during the regular school year, they come on Saturdays, and during the months of June and August. In order to take the required licensing exam, graduates go to either Springfield or Chicago. Luckily, Mrs. Marshall and the other cosmetology teachers fully prepare students for the industry.
Through Mrs. Marshall's years as an instructor at KACC, she is glad to help her students develop their skills and talents through servicing customers, family and friends in the clinical area.
