KACC STUDENTS EXCEL
SkillsUSA National Competition!
Ten out of eleven KACC students finished in the top 6 nationally at the National SkillsUSA Competition in Kansas City, Missouri. These students once again evidence the exceptional curriculum and training they receive at the Career Center. This competition is the scholastic bowl or national finals, if you will, for those students involved in career and technical education.
Lucas Papineau, SkillsUSA Coordinator/Computer Tech II Instructor reported “all students were phenomenal the entire week, both personally and professionally. Sharon Barnard (SkillsUSA Coordinator/Cosmetology Manager) and I are very proud of this group. They represented the Illinois Team as well as KACC with great confidence, skill level and professionalism. We are extremely pleased with their performance.”
According to Director, Don Fay, the placement between 1st and 4th in Cosmetology was a mere 2 points, and for Pre-Engineering, our team was less than 2 points from coming in 3rd. Principal Tom Hahs gave special praise to Melissa Rodriguez from BBCHS, as her design was chosen for the Trading Pin all Illinois Students used for trading with the other 49 states. Jessica Loferski,” continued Hahs, “also from BBCHS, represented the Illinois State Officer Team as State Parliamentarian.
In addition to competitions, Students also participated in service projects in the Kansas City area and also had a little time off for some fun and games.
