Katherine Hester - Connecting Generations
Business Technology/Management instructor, Debi Zurek, is proud to share another success story born of the partnerships with our local business commmunity. Katherine Hester, Kankakee High School and Career Center student, received the unique opportunity to speak at the Riverside Senior Living VIP Grand Opening of their new rehabilitation center. The new center was given the name Sojourn.
The event was by invitation only, attended by VIP's and dignitaries from both the local and state-wide businesses and the medical community. There were tours, food, music and a presentation about the development, vision and future of the center. The program included four speakers, the President and CEO of Riverside Healthcare, Phil Kambic, the President of Life Services Network from Springfield, the VP of Riverside Senior Services, and our very own Katherine Hester.
Katherine was chosen to read the vision and mission declaration to the crowd. Katherine was chosen because of her involvement with their Connecting Generations project through her KACC internship. Katherine has worked with Riverside's marketing and senior services staff, and she was their choice to share the message behind their marketing campaign for Sojourn.
Katherine had several friendly faces in the crowd as she presented the declaration. Sharon Curry, Kankakee High School Principal, Debi Zurek, her Business Management Instructor, her Riverside Senior Services mentor, Cindy DeGroot, and Katherine's family members were all there to lend support. According to Ms. Zurek, "Katherine did an outstanding job and was very professional, impressing many of the attendees. Several people took the time," Ms. Zurek continued, "to compliment her personally on her presentation."
Both Cindy DeGroot, and the marketing staff were all very complimentary of Katherine and her work with Riverside. Because she did such an exceptional job at the VIP Grand Opening, she was invited back for two additional gatherings, one designed specifically for the residents at Riverside Senior Living, and another where families and the community in general are invited on Saturday, February 21st for their public grand opening.
If you get the chance to attend on the 21st, you will be impressed with how Katherine represents herself, Kankakee High School and the Kankakee Area Career Center
