Instructor, C.N.A. Training Program

Tara Rewerts, R.N. joined Kankakee Area Career Center’s faculty in the C.N.A. Training Program in August, 2016.  Ms. Rewerts comes with great experience:

Mrs. Rewerts started her education in KCC's Nursing Program following an eight-year career in Clinical Massage Therapy.  She graduated with her Associates Degree in nursing in 2004 and began her career in healthcare at Presence St. Mary's Hospital right here in Kankakee.  During her time there, she worked as a Special Procedure's Nurse, Medical Intensive Care Nurse and an Outpatient Surgery Nurse.

Mrs. Rewerts, always in pursuit of of excellence in education, began attending Olivet Nazarene University (ONU).  Mrs. Rewerts earned her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 2012 and then went on to complete her Master's Degree in Nursing with a emphasis in Nursing Education.

While working on her advanced degree, Mrs. Rewerts provided educational support for nursing students enrolled in KCC's Nursing Program as the "Retention Program began.  During that time, Mrs. Rewerts also served as an adjunct faculty member of KCC in their Nursing Program as well as accepting responsibility as one of KCC's  clinical and laboratory instructors.

Mrs. Rewerts seemed to be called to ONU and their nursing program.  Once Mrs. Rewerts earned her Masters Degree, she began teaching nursing full time at ONU.  Mrs. Rewerts also served ONU as the Level I Clinical Coordinator and as an instructor for their Health Assessment until joining KACC's faculty.

We are delighted with her choice!

On a personal note, Mrs. Rewerts is married (Her husband's name is Glen).  Funny enough, Mr. Rewerts works in the School of Business at ONU - yet another ONU connection.  The Rewerts' have 3 children (two boys and a girl).  She says "Her faith and family provide her with the support she needs to be encouraged working in healthcare education."  When asked about what led her to this line of work, Mrs. Rewerts responded, "The students are absolutely the best part of this career!  Watching them grow and become the future of our healthcare profession in America....what a privilige and a blessing."
