KACC Celebrates Sophomore Day 2015
KACC held its 11th Annual Sophomore Day Tuesday, welcoming over 650 sophomores from 15 area high schools. From Peotone and Crete-Monee to Bradley-Bourbonnais to Clifton Central and Donovan High School, the story was the same – sophomores arrived eager to learn what career and technology opportunities are available for their junior and senior years in high school.
The bulk of the presentations were done by KACC 2nd year students – under the direction of the instructors. “These student volunteers,” according to Assistant Principal, Matt Kelley, “were chosen specifically due to their wealth of knowledge, excellent skill sets, as well as their ability to demonstrate the professional temperament needed to ensure an excellent presentation for our guests.”
Our visiting students were allowed to select three classroom demonstrations: 20 minutes in length, designed to provide –

According to Bosa Goodale, Principal of the Career Center, “People don’t realize the students who attend KACC more often than not are the ones who pursue advanced education and/or certifications. Our students take with them the advantages of early training and skill development as well as a more mature look at the soft skills employers seek today.”
Don Fay, Director, further stated “Most of our programs offer dual college credit so students can graduate high school with 4 to 10 credit hours. In addition, the certifications and licenses students earn help them meet prerequisites needed to take their education to the next level.”
