Emerging Workforce Conference
May 5th at Kankakee Area Career Center
Want to be a part of tomorrow’s emerging workforce?
Kankakee Area Regional Vocation Education System (KARVES) and Kankakee Area Career Center (KACC) have teamed up with area businesses to present the area’s first-ever “Emerging Workforce Career Conference” on May 5th, 2016 at the Kankakee Area Career Center, 4083 N 1000N Road, Bourbonnais.
This Emerging Workforce Conference welcomes high school junior/senior students and their parents. This is NO JOB FAIR – This is an exclusive opportunity for area teens to spend a bit of time to find out what is really out there for them as they wind down their high school years and begin planning what that post-secondary education might look like.
Several local and regional employers have signed on to be a part of this informative, educational event on May 5, 2016, from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. Great opportunity to introduce area businesses and their main function to today’s up-and-coming workforce!
No longer does an expensive 4-year college degree ensure employability, nor can a high school graduate expect to “follow in dad’s footsteps” into a factory job without some additional education, training and/or skills.
“We’ve created a culture that says if you want to be successful, you graduate from high school, you go directly into a four-year university, you get a degree and you go to work,” said Tim Johnson, Director of Government Relations for the National Center for Construction Education and Research. “And I think that there are so many more pathways.”
Today’s emerging workforce requires students to make informed decisions when determining their future education and/or skill training for a career of their choice. They’ll need to know entry level education and skill set requirements; current and future employment prospects and trends; keys to being “hirable” on-line and on paper; whether future educational opportunities are available; how to obtain experience if this is a prerequisite, etc.
Students’ participation in the “Emerging Workforce Career Conference” on May 5th, 2016 can serve as a key asset in determining their future education or skill training to secure future employment for a bright future.
Kankakee Area welcome all high school students and their parents to this unique career planning opportunity!
