Here at KACC, all our instructors have the knowledge and expertise to prepare students to be successful in their chosen fields.  We can help chart their paths, but it is their personal drive and willingness to work hard chick can lead them to success.

Such is the case for two recent graduates KACC’s Fire-Rescue-EMR students Nichole Beaupre and Austin Morse.

Both Nicole and Austin took time to returned to KACC and give us an update us on their progress and career paths.  Both Nicole and Austin graduated in June of 2018.  Since then, they both have been busy preparing for a career in the field of emergency response.

Nicole attended Bradley-Bourbonnais High School and KACC.  During her junior and senior years at KACC, obtained certifications in First Aid and Basic Life Support CPR through the American Heart Association.  She completed OSHA’s 10-hour Workforce Safety (Healthcare) Program and certified as an Emergency Medical Responder by the Illinois Department of Public Health.  Apparently, Nicole could not get enough of the EMS training so she enrolled in Riverside Hospital’s Emergency Medical Technician program at Kankakee Community College.  She successfully completed the course and is now awaiting her EMT-B licensure through IDPH.  Nicole was and still is a charter member of the Kankakee City Fire Cadet program and says next on her agenda is to attend the fire academy. She also works for the Bourbonnais Park District.

Austin Morse attended Grant Park High School and KACC.  Like Nicole, Austin also obtained certifications in First Aid and Basic Life Support CPR through the American Heart Association.  He completed OSHA’s 10-hour Workforce Safety (Healthcare) Program and a certified Emergency Medical Responder by the Illinois Department of Public Health.  Austin (who was a cadet member of the Grant Park Fire Protection District) graduated from the fire academy this summer and has now been upgraded to probationary member status.  Upon completion of the fire academy, Austin also enrolled in Riverside Hospital’s Emergency Medical Technician program at Kankakee Community College. He too successfully completed the course and is now awaiting EMT-B licensure through IDPH.  Austin was an inaugural member of KACC’s National Technical Honor Society.  He currently works at Farm and Fleet.

Mr. Leeson, their Fire-Rescue-EMR instructor says he looks forward watching these two students’ careers continue to develop.  They will have a positive impact in our community.

All the best to Nicole Beaupre and Austin Morse.
