Emily Dahl

Helping Students to be Prepared for a Bright Future

Not only do KACC students benefit from the Career Coaching services provided by Emily Dahl, she has also taken on the additional opportunity to work with administration, faculty and students to help search opportunities for students within our local business communities.

Ms. Dahl originally joined KACC as a Career Coach. in 2015.  Since then, she took on the additional role of Internship Coordinator  It’s a great fit, as Ms. Dahl brings over 20 years of corporate experience and knowledge to her positions as Career Coach and Internship Coordinator.

After graduating from Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School, Ms. Dahl attended the University of Kentucky in Lexington, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, with a minor in French.  While attending UK, Ms. Dahl was a member of the Honors Program and Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.  Fun fact, the UK basketball team won the National Championship during her senior year - a highlight of her college experience.

Ms. Dahl began her career at Western-Southern Life Insurance in Cincinnati, Ohio, earning many designations as an insurance professional. After moving to Evanston, Illinois, she became Director of Communications for Prudential Preferred Properties, a branch of Prudential Real Estate.   Prior to joining KACC, Ms. Dahl was Marketing Coordinator for Monical’s Pizza Corporation in Bradley.

Ms. Dahl attributes her success as a career coach to her diverse work history.  According to Ms. Dahl, she has worked in several different industries, and gained a lot of skills she might not have, had she stayed solely in one job or field.”  She says that of all the places she’s worked, she “feels the most fulfilled at the Career Center….Even though some students may not grasp the importance of a solid resume or a firm handshake today, I believe they will definitely benefit from it at some point in their lives.  It’s really rewarding to know we are giving students useful, real-life tools and skills.”

As Internship Coordinator, Mrs. Dahl works with Career Center instructors to place students in internships throughout the community.  “We have some exceptionally talented students, who are benefiting so much from the experience our local business partners are providing.”  If you are interested in a business partner to provide an internship for a Career Center student, please contact Mrs. Dahl at dahle@kacc.org.

When she’s not at the Career Center, Mrs. Dahl enjoys reading, building Legos with her first-grade son, Nicholas, and traveling as much as she can.  Her recent trip to Germany and Austria was one of her favorites. She says it is her favorite because she was able to “Enjoy the beautiful European Christmas markets for the first time with my family.” Mrs. Dahl speaks both French and German, and is currently working on learning some Latin.

Emily Dahl has proven herself to be a valuable member of Team KACC! We’re glad she’s here.
