Introducing a New Career Tool ~ It's Free Too!

Career Coach

It's not unusual for KACC to highlight wonderful partnerships in education.  We try to do it often.  Today is no exception. The most recent example is the new, free career tool, Career Coach.

KACC partnered with the Kankakee Community College, Economic Alliance of Kankakee County and the Community Foundation of Kankakee River Valley to bring this wonderful opportunity to our community.

The program is housed on Kankakee Community College's website and available Here: Career Coach Platform.

The software begins with a self-assessment to help students (and adults alike) help define career paths based upon their various interests.  This can be extremely clarifying for a young person who have not yet decided on what is right for them.

Anything we can do to help our students filter the career options available and choose a path that fits, we are all about it.  Choosing a career can be a real roadblock for students.

Leslie Cooper, KCC's Director of Institutional Effectiveness and Assessment said that when students answer questions about their preferences and interest, helps them explore what careers are a good fit for their strengths and interest.  It's customized for each person.

Once those career paths are suggested the Career Coach tool goes even farther, informing users or educational levels typical for a variety of careers as well as the ability to explore wages, job posting and more.  "With the global market undergoing such significant transformation, it's essential that we clearly connect the dots for job seekers regarding their career options and relevant training," said Tim Nugent, President/CEO of the Economic Alliance of Kankakee County. "Demand skills are evolving rapidly.  Career Coach is a powerful tool that takes a lot of the mystery out of the workforce readiness process, providing personalized information about career matches as well as local training and job opportunities."

Working together with our educational and industry partners, Kankakee Area Career Center and the Kankakee Area Regional Vocational Education System will continue to pursue new options and opportunities in the days, months and years to come.

Be sure to take a few minutes to take the assessment and view your results.  Before you do, you may want to view this short tutorial. Click Here for Into Tutorial
