Mr. Lucas Papineau
Programming for Success!
Many have compared a student's mind to a sponge and education as the water. When the two are put together, the sponge soaks up as much water as it can. In the Computer Technology department of KACC, Mr. Balling and Mr. Papineau try to expand and fill each student's mind as much as possible. Following a year with Mr. Balling in Computer Technology I, students come to Mr. Papineau to learn about information systems. Information Systems (IT) is an ever growing field within the US workforce, and Mr. Papineau has the talent and knowledge needed to help KACC students get ahead in the game.
Mr. Papineau attended Central High School and was a former student here at KACC in Computer Technology. Following high school, Mr. Papineau went on to college at DeVry University. Mr. Papineau earned his Bachelor of Science degree from DeVry in just 2 1/2 years, even while working on computers and IT at CLR.
After college, Mr. Papineau moved to Chicago and lived downtown while working for a company called Capital H Group. In Mr. Papineau's job, he helped run the IT Network, working on the servers, laptops, and the ordering and installation of new computer equipment.
In order to handle all the job responsibilities, Mr. Papineau found himself traveling around the US, working on their systems. As a man who still enjoys small-town living in Clifton, eventually it was clear to Mr. Papineau, this type of lifestyle was not for him.
Luck came around two years ago when he discovered the position opening here at KACC for a computer technology teacher. During these first two years, Mr. Papineau proved himself as an exceptional teacher, and has taken on additional responsibility within the SkillsUSA program and taking care of KACC's information systems within the school, all the while programing his students to succeed in life. Mr. Papineau is also a firefighter with the Ashkum Fire Department. He's definitely a smart, hard-working young man.
Mr. Papineau teaches his students to set up and run networks, address computer security issues, HTML, I-Net, and much, much more. Students can take a certification test in Network Plus. In these programs, they run the server and user accounts to locate and fix problems a computer may have. Mr. Papineau and his students actively respond to internal computer issues at KACC. They will, for example, go to other classrooms if someone is having a problem logging in to our network or experiencing internet or printing problems. They come right in and fix it. No computer repairman needs to be called. We have our own handymen here at KACC, all between 16-18 years of age. Take your pick!
Mr. Papineau doesn't even have to say a word to his students when they know they have to get to work. His students have their own enthusiasm to work and get things done when they need to get done. "There's not one thing that my students do that I disprove of" stated Mr. Papineau. "They are very respectful, he continued, when they come through the door."
Back when Mr. Papineau was a student at KACC, he knew where everything was, who everyone was, and knew when not to mess around with his teacher. It motivated him to be the one to teach students about computers. His teacher was a great influence on his life, and even helped Mr. Papineau get his first job at CLR. Now Mr. Papineau has the opportunity to pass along the same qualities as a teacher in his own rite.
