21 Advance to State Competition

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry representatives working together to ensure America has a skilled work force.

In addition leadership training, SkillsUSA Competitions help students become career and college ready in a variety of technical and skilled service occupations, including health occupations, architectural drafting, computer technology, collision, welding, fire rescue, law, etc.

The Kankakee Area Career Center (KACC), located in Bourbonnais, has been intricately involved with SkillsUSA since its formation in the 1970’s.

While not all competitions require written testing, many do. KACC students volunteer to undergo written qualifying tests to compete at the upcoming State Competition this April.

Students who go on to earn first place at the State Level in April will be invited to compete at the National SkillsUSA competition held in Kansas City, MO this June. We’ve even sent a student to International competition too!

Congratulations and Best of Luck to the following Students:

Andrew Lagacy and Vandele Young from BBCHS; Jacob Sauter, Robert Soucie, Austin Wilson and Jessica Ackman from Beecher HS, Tyler Robison from Central HS; Paige Lambert from Donovan HS; Emma Schafer, taylor Manley, Cheyenne Mau, Tai Leigh Schlaich and Mitchell Geister from Herscher HS, Breanna Hayman who is homeschooled; Kenton Robinson from Kankakee HS; Courtney Friedericks, Manteno HS; Karla Rodriguez, Momence HS; Tony Busca, Peotone HS; and, Rayvon Addison, Conner Grogan and Kaylee Snow, St. Anne HS, and Chris Canady, Watseka High School
