Alumni Update - Dylan Krygsheld
Well on his way to a fantastic career.
Dylan stopped by to visit his former Drafting + 3D Design classroom. Of course, we took the opportunity to snap a picture and learn about what Dylan is up to since graduation.
Dylan Krygsheld attended both Beecher High School and Kankakee Area Career Center, stating he "had the privilege of being able to enroll in the program (Drafting) both my junior and senior years in high school."
Since graduation, Dylan enrolled in Kankakee Community College with the purpose of transferring two years later into a four-year university. He has done just that!
This summer, Dylan was accepted into one of the TOP-10 Engineering schools in the country - Purdue University. Dylan is currently in his third year of college studying Construction Engineering and Management, which he says is a "mixture of 80% Civil Engineering and 20% Construction Management.
As a part of the program, Dylan has completed two internships at Alston Construction, one of the top design-build construction firms. In these internships, He used a variety of skills from Drafting and 3D Design such as AutoCAD, blueprint reading, basic uses of drafting instruments and teamwork.
While in high school, Dylan had the opportunity of being a draftsman for Stevenson Fabrication Services. During those summers, he "heavily used basic drafting skills" such as properly using right-line types and basic sketches. He says that the job experiences confirmed how the instruction and the curriculum gave him the skills needed.
Reflecting on his previous experience and education, he says the "fundamentals of the program taught me basic workplace practices from little things like a standard filing/saving system and organization to the big things such as work discipline and teamwork. He says he cannot thank KACC enough for the information he learned, not only giving him an advantage in college, but also in the job market.
Keep studying and putting forth the effort Dylan! We will look forward to continued updates on your success along the way.
