Roberts-Melvin Fire Protection District Donates Turnout Gear
The Kankakee Area Career Center would like to thank the Roberts-Melvin Fire Protection District for the donation of surplus firefighting turnout gear to our Fire/Rescue/EMS curriculum. The donation included helmets, gloves, Nomex hoods, bunker coats, bunker pants, and boots.
The idea for the donation came from Assistant Chief Joe Fortner who, years ago while in high school, enrolled in career and technical education classes much like those taught here at KACC. Assistant Chief Fortner said he came to appreciate the training and education he received then and decided to pay it forward.
This donation of personal protective gear will be put to good use. Enough equipment was donated to outfit 15 students.
The Kankakee Area Career Center can't thank the Roberts-Melvin Fire Protection District enough for their thoughtfulness and generosity.
