KACC Breaks Ground on House 22!
Local Inspectors (and KACC Alumn) on Site
Kankakee Area Career Center (KACC) has broken ground on their 22nd home site. This new home is located at 1943 Old Brick Road, in Prairie Chase Subdivision.
Once the property was surveyed and basement dug, the pre-cast walls were delivered and installed by Great Lakes Superior Walls. These walls are state-of-the-art and provide an "R-Value of 12.5 for added warmth and energy efficiency."
On hand to witness the installation were members from Kankakee County and the Village of Bourbonnais. They too, were interested in the process and were able to see first-hand this wonderful technology. On site were: Steve Marion, Kankakee County Building Inspector (1984 KACC Alumn). From the Village of Bourbonnais were Building Commission, Bob Steinke, Eric Cyr, Code Enforcement Officer, and Paul Hafner, Building Inspector.
New to this house, is the fact it will have a "Safe Room" in the basement (more on that later). KACC Construction Technology Instructor and KACC's General Contractor, Jeff Umphrey, is always looking to keep up with available technology and design options.
