Thanks for a Great Day KCC!
For the second year in a row, Kankakee Community College has welcomed not some, but all of KACC's healthcare students. Whether enrolled in our Certified Nurse Assistant Training Program or Medical Terminology - Basic Health Skills, everyone was invited to attend.
This proved to be a wonderful opportunity for students to learn about the many course offerings for a variety of healthcare career paths available at the college. Students learned about nursing programs, physical therapist assistant programs, emergency medical technician and paramedic training as well as phlebotomy and x-ray technician.
The working relationship and lines of communication between KCC and KACC helps us help students to see how their hard work today in the classroom can lead to options and opportunities following their high school graduation. Our annual theme here at KACC is Plan, Prepare, Execute. These students have received information to help them in that process so we can best fulfill our motto of Preparing Students for Tomorrow.
Students share their thoughts about the day at KCC with their instructors, Melinda Mattox and Melinda Luedtke. A sampling of those comments are:
- "KCC Day was an amazing way to get to see all the classes and programs for health careers and get a feel of what they have to offer. The staff were amazing and I can't wait to be a part of the KCC family." Anahbel Robbins
- "The KCC Day was very informational and gave me direction on where I want to go after high school and opened me up to other healthcare professions. It was nice to meet the teachers and learn what KCC had to offer and the benefits of going to KCC." Natalie Rink
- "I enjoyed getting to go and learn about the programs along with being able to look at the different options within the medical field. I had three fields that had peaked my interest: Respiratory, paramedic and radiology." Emma Smith
- "I think the KCC day was informative and interesting. It introduced me to new professions that I think I would like. It also gave good information about attending KCC which was also helpful. The staff was nice as well. Overall, I think it was a good day and a good experience." Kyla Mingo
- "I think the KCC trip was fun and it was very helpful, helping me figure what I wanted to do and what I didn't want to do. they explained things very well and I liked how they had students come in and tell their stories about how they got to KCC and how they enjoyed the class but had to work hard to be in the class. When we were in the auditorium at the end, it was amazing how people kept talking. I enjoyed the trip." Makenna Hays
