"Eggs"citing Training with Jaws of Life
Fun, yet challenging "eggs"perience for students.
Just recently, Manteno FPD donated some Jaws of Life hydraulic equipment for the Fire-Rescue-EMR program. it took just a couple of days to put this fine donation to good use.
Last Friday, it was sunny and a bit breezy, but was perfect to begin training with the Jaws of Life equipment.
Fire-Rescue-EMR students practiced developing their manual dexterity and ability to control hydraulic pressure while training with the Hurst equipment donated to KACC by the Manteno Fire Protection District.
The object of the "eggsercise" was to be able to close the Jaws of Life around an egg with just enough pressure to lift it up - without cracking it.
Students also trained using the hydraulic cutters to practice cutting metal.
These skills will be put to the test at the end of April when they all actually cut apart automobiles at Manteno FPD's training site.
