Great Job Students and Advisors!

SkillsUSA announced Kankakee Area Career Center's SkillsUSA Chapter has earned the Chapter Excellence Program Quality Chapter Award through the leadership of their student members who are advised by Mike Johnston, Melissa Kapidis, Dawn Kleeber and Jonathan Cruz.

Kankakee Area Career Center is honored to be recognized by SkillsUSA Illinois as a chapter for our work to ensure members, our students, are career-ready. TeamKACC has continually done exceptionally well through SkillsUSA Illinois.  We are delighted to continue this fine tradition. One of the unique opportunities offered here at KACC.

The SkillsUSA Chapter Excellence Program promotes the intentional learning of personal skills, workplace skills and technical skills grounded in academics as outlined in the SkillsUSA Framework for student development.

Achievement is measured by the effectiveness of students’ efforts in implementing essential workplace skills including personal responsibility, integrity, work ethic and organization in chapter activities. The hands-on approach of this program actualizes the SkillsUSA mission of empowering members to become world-class workers, leaders and responsible American citizens.

SkillsUSA is an educational opportunity for students enrolled in over 130 occupational areas integrated into the technical curriculum at our nation’s career and technical education programs at the middle school, high school and postsecondary levels.

SkillsUSA Illinois has issued a press release announcing Chapters of Excellence honored as Illinois top SkillsUSA programs for 2020 and can be found at the link below. Please share this with your school’s newspapers, communication team, as well as local media outlets to bring the local recognition to the chapter it very much deserves.
