Thanks with a touch of Great Karma
Once again, Kankakee Area Career Center’s Fire-Rescue-EMR program is the beneficiary of a wonderful gift from our community partners. Ashkum Fire Chief, Jeff Glenn and the Ashkum Fire Board of Trustees donated a 1986 Pierce Fire Engine. This Fire Engine will be an awesome asset when it comes to training KACC Fire-Rescue-EMR students in all aspects of firefighting, including obtaining a water supply and fire apparatus engineering.
This 35 year-old engine is in remarkable shape. About a year ago, the Ashkum FPD ordered a new engine. Chief Glenn and the Ashkum FPD Trustees decided it was worthwhile to donate to KACC to help educate future firefighters and first responders.
There are some interesting historical ties between Ashkum FPD and KACC. First tidbit: Chief Glenn attended KACC in 1978 and 1979. He is another fine example of KACC alumni in our communities.
It also just so happens former Ashkum FPD Chief, Mick O’Brien, who originally purchased this engine is the son-in-law of Mrs. Eugene Boucher. Ms. Boucher is the generous woman who donated the land to KACC in order to build the Career Center.
So many ways this 1986 Pierce Engine, Ashkum Fire and KACC are linked. Such great karma! Thanks again to Ashkum FPD. You are a wonderful partner in helping KACC fulfill its motto, Preparing Students for Tomorrow.
