Kankakee County Fallen Firefighter Ceremony
On Friday, October 1st, students and Instructor, Ed Lesson, from the Kankakee Area Career Center Fire/Rescue/EMR curriculum participated in the annual Kankakee County Fallen Firefighter Memorial Ceremony. The Memorial was held on the grounds of the Kankakee County Courthouse.
This annual event honors the memories of eight firefighters in Kankakee County who lost their lives in the line of duty. Two of those firefighters (Bruce Spaulding and Matthew Hubly) were instructions here at KACC.
Also involved in the memorial service was Firefighter Mason Beaupre, a graduate of the Fire/Rescue/EMR program at KACC and a current member of the Bourbonnais Township Fire Protection. FF Beaupre participated in the bell ringing ceremony, in which traditionally the bell is solemnly struck three times for three cycles; indicating the call for service has been completed.
