Another Success Story from KACC Alumni
Deputy Sheriff Aimee Holcomb
There is not much more rewarding than hearing from former students when they have fulfilled their goals. This past month, Mr. Josh Martin, Law Enforcement Assistant Instructor, received an email and photograph from 2014 KACC and Manteno High School Alumnus, Aimee Holcomb, Now Deputy Sheriff Holcomb.
After graduating from high school, Aimee went to college earning her Bachelor's Degree in criminal justice. She believes she was fortunate to be hired by the first department she applied to which, she says, "Has always been my dream to work for a sheriffs department because of the endless career opportunities." Mr. Martin would say, she may consider herself fortunate, but really, she has worked hard to achieve her goals, putting forth the time and effort necessary for success.
Aimee says she hopes to one day work in a specialized division. Aimee is savvy, advising students with a bit of advice: "My biggest advice is to take advantage of your opportunities. I didn’t realize how similar what I learned at KACC and my college courses were to what I would learn in the Academy. This week I graduate as a Deputy Sheriff."
During college, Aimee volunteered for numerous community organizations where she lived. She took up long-distance running as well and joined a running club. Evidenced by her picture, Aimee is in top-notch physical shape, very helpful in her new position.
Keep in touch Aimee. All of us at Kankakee Area Career Center are proud of Deputy Sheriff Holcomb, wish you continued success, and look forward to continuing to hear from you.
