Officer Andy Cox Visits KACC Law Enforcement Program

Students gain insight into Kankakee County's ERT

While Detective Andy Cox is a member of the Village of Bourbonnais Police Department, he also serves a dual role as a member of Kankakee County's Emergency Response Team (ERT).  Detective Cox has been a member of the ERT team for several years.  He is an EMT and the team's medic.

Detective Cox's passion for and dedication to the job was evident as he spoke with Law Enforcement students.  He presented information on the skills one needs to become a member of a team like this and the dedication one must maintain.

Detective Cox share his believe in the benefit of serving on a local police department as it opens up several career paths within the policing organizations.  There are opportunities for remaining a police officer while you move into a special interest like forensics, crime scene, robotics, swat and other fields.

Students were also treated to seeing one of the robotic devices used for searches in action.  (Short Video Below)
