Congratulations Travis Lyon!
The continued successes of our students are just too good not to keep sharing. Hope you agree!
Travis Lyon, a Welding Technology student at KACC who also attends Peotone High School has had a great couple of weeks and we want to share his story. Travis wrote:
"Thoughout the last year attending Welding at KACC, I've learned more than I can imagine. My brother, Tyler, had taken the class his junior and senior years a while back. He got noticed greatly by the Local 63 Ironworkers when he applied with a S.E.N.S.E. certificate in hand.
Tyler showed the superintendent of Duberg Iron Works a letter from Mr. Guerin, the KACC Principal, informing my dad about their choice in selecting me, out of 799 students, for the Student Advisory Council, to represent the Welding Technology Program. The superintendent thought this was incredible and is very interested in me working with them once I have graduated.
Coming to the Career Center has definitely helped me to start a wonderful career with such a big head start. Being able to have American Welding Society (AWS) S.E.N.S.E. certification, dual college credit hours, and more information contained in my portfolio , has already been able to get me recognized by the Local 63 Ironworkers.
Once again, thank you."
Great job Travis - you are well on your way to a great future.
